Halloween = Flu?

Hey y'alls! i love you all! just thought i'd get that out of the way :)

ok so my new comp is elder Clay he is from the souther part of Verginia and yes i get to learn southern! woot! and he is so happy and energetic he just barely got done being trained and i'm senior comp and i'm the driver !!!!!!! yes! i'm very happy and he and i are going to do so much work here in chino its gonig to be amazing!

ok so this week i got the darn flu thats been going around and i got it on transfers day so the trip up from the valley we had to stop about 5 times so i could get rid o f the contents of my weak belly but thats ok we all had those bags of candy from the missions trunk or treat and everyone had to dump theirs out so i could put the bags to goosd use hehe... but good thing from it all i lost like 10 pounds from not having any food or water being able to stay down for two days well ok no that wasn't good but i'm doing great now and i'm so happy and excited to be with Elder clay he is so much fun i love it!

its amazing how much fun you can have and how happy i am when i'm not stressed like a little mad man!

ok so i hope your hallowen was amazing! i spent mine being... well... sick... oh so i had one of those moments i'll never forget... so my body was pushing everything up for the first two days and then on the third day i was feeling better but my body decided it was then time to bush it all down...

well i was standing in the room in prescott valley (because we hadn't found a place to stay yet) and i felt a little air that needed to be removed from my body so naturaly i give it a little umph and i soon regretted it greatly... it wasn't air... nor was it solid in any way...

so i then procede to waddle to the bathroom which i then had to spend about two hours in because all my cloths except for what i had on me were all in chino still 28 miles away...

so yup i can now join the infamus club of holligans who've pooed their pants on their missions YEAH! haha even i have to admit that it was actually super funny.

oh ok now for a change of subjects on sunday Debbie got up and bore her testimony in church which was her one month mark being a member and i had to cry the whole time. This is a strong independant woman who a month and 11 days before had never even thought that her Savior loved her or that it even mattered that there was an atonement for her sins provided as a gift to all those who are willing to partake in the glory of His great and eternal gospel.

She stood and bore what she new, not in words of this world but in celestial words of truth, in rememberance of the great plan that we all knew before we even came into the world, she spoke words that shake the foundations of hell and would make the devil himself cower and her shout of praise to her newly remembered God and Savior. She knows who she is and the plan He has for her, it was a life changing moment for me to relise that if it were'nt for Gods love for us to allow a sinner like myself to help her she would still be lost.

I love this work, I love teaching people this Gospel, I love the joy it brings not only me but them when they pray and gain a testimony of this marvlous work.

ok there we go you got a litte info a litte funny and a testimony :) i love you all so much!

A report on the Mission Conference

Family, how are you?

I'm so glad to hear from you,

Life here is actually really well we're setting up tons of stuff for the coming weeks and we're pushing along or being dragging along from His perspective haha but thats ok

so we have a couple of baptism dates set up which is super good and it was so cool to have some of the apostles come and speak to us.

oh and yes we met at the temple for our meeting with the people and
let me tell you how amazing that was and now you can
actually tell what its going to look like!

so my companion has a week left before he goes home. he is super excited to go back to his life so i'm doing my best to keep motivated and simply keep going with everything,

tonight we're going over for FHE with debbie and sister blanco and thats going to be sweet

so sorry i don't have much time to email you i've been sitting by a rather rough biker dude whose been trying to argue with me for the last hour or so hee... so i haven't been able to focus much i'm sorry.

well next week i will be getting a new companion so i'll let you know how that goes next week.

Thank you dad for the line of authority!

i love you all so much thank you thank you!

A PS from Z:

Isn't it fun to hear from Andrew each week? I think it's funny he's even getting a chance to share the gospel (or argue with a creepy biker dude) while doing his weekly emails.

Andrew may not be the most grammatically correct of writers, but I do enjoy hearing his stories. It's wonderful to see the success they're having in AZ.

For a more picture-laden and grammatically correct update on the AZ Phoenix Mission, check out Sister Taylor's blog here. As the mission president's wife, she's got access to all the neat ins and outs around the mission, and it's great to see what's going on down there. The post I linked to is the one about the huge mission-wide conference they had this last week - it's a real treat :)

STEAK!!!

Ok first, i gave a talk in Del Rio and i'm so glad its over, i can boldly testify quite easily to a small group of people but when giving a talk in sacrament i don't know i don't like it i guess.

life up here is going well although it was a very hard week with everyone canceling and rescheduling and blah blah blah but hope is not lost Elder Pehrson has decided that i'm going to give it a new attitude and not focus on the negative

we have a lot of good stuff in the works that i think we can accomplish by the end of this month so i'm quite happy with that  We had interviews this past week and that was good i really enjoyed talking to pres Taylor and just laying out to him everything that i'm feeling and what not, its quite therapeutic

so after which the Stake President invited us over to his house for a celebratory dinner for breaking the stakes record of convert baptisms in a month and he said we were getting steak.... no.... what he gave us wasn't steak... it was a cow cut in half grilled and slapped on our plates! they were huge! and they were so good! best steak in my life! these farm folk sure know how to cook their moo moos phew!

i almost went into a meat coma, it was amazing!

so i did notice that it was nathans jacket haha i don't mind really and that you so so so so so much from what you sent! i love it all! and that picture i love love love love!!!!!!

and i'm going to get my pants today thank you mumsy i love you all dearly! so now i'm thinking of what else i can send for halloween/popsicals birthday... what I've been thinking of is sending a box of giant grasshoppers that cover the roads and fields down here hmmmm i dunno :) oh i loved the picture of luna and wow she's getting dark or it was just the picture, but i sure do hope you like the stuff, i thought they were super super cool so, i can only hope. well i love you all so much i have a massive list of stuff to do today blah but i'll get it all done.

Ok IMPORTANT!
1. have you sent my driving record?
2. dad could i get my priesthood line of authority
3. mum i would really like to get your own personal conversion story and the more detail the better please :)
4. i love you ALL!

ps this is my happy/sad/angry/bored/jovial/giddy face i sure hope you enjoy!

My companion when we were goofing off with some Halloween costumes at a member's house.

What a crazy week!

What a crazy week it has been! good, happy, amazing, busy, but crazy!

so some members in the ward volen-told me to be in a quartet that's singing a poor wayfaring man of grief for Elder Roberts last Sunday so now i'm practicing for that.

i don't have the keberliners address on me but i'll get it to you, did they stay long and talk or was it a hi-bye? and i'm super happy you like them i'm glad that i can collect things like that and send them home unlike Z and nathan haha but i guess everywhere is differant, i hope that they go well with your decor thats already in place. what did you do with the family proc? have your framed it yet? i would love to get some printed pictures from you folks, i don't have any at all and thats something i would love.

i'm sending a great story in my letter to alex, also i've been sending my baptism programs to her, i don't know if she's shown you but they are neat.

so funny story, lately i've kept calling sister Marsh Grandma or sister Grandma haha and she just starts laughing and saying that she loves it, oh man is she a saint we sure do love her, and she made creamed eggs on toast again for sat morning before conf.

OH MY GOODNESS YM @ 18 AND YW @ 19!!!!!!!!!!!! thats amazing! you have no idea how much i've been geeking out about that!

that is inspired also MTC time isbeing cut down to a third of the time! the mission field is going to be flooded with Gods servants who are so ready to share His word and boy do we need that! but think about how many more missionaries we're going to have and then in my own opinion (this is not docterine) think of how many missionaries China needs! AHHAhAHA its coming!

so we watched a session with debbie at her house and that was so amazingly spiritual, she loved it so much and it just spoke to her so much! can i ask a favor of you folks? and please follow through with this, could you guys write a letter to Debbie Bocko @ _____ you have no idea how much it would mean to her, all her family isn't in contact with her or whatever and she is the most amazing person i've met on my mission and she wants me to come with my family to visit her after the mission (which thatnk goodness i have a while) but she is in her 60s she owns and runs by herself 15 acres 4 horses 8 meat sheep a slew of chickens and two dogs, and boy do we love her! she is going to be such an amazing leader in the ward.

any who i love you all so much, thank you for all you do for me! i would like to get an updat on how everyone is doing and what thier up to! I love you all!

so before i get started i just wanted to let you know that the keberlines are headed up for conferance so i gave them two items for you guys and they have your phone number and address and they would love to stay and talk and hear the chilly cellos! Oh! and to save on post they said that they would pick up my overcoat and bring it down so that saves everyone and so don't forget to give it to them thanks! so the first item is colorfull and big and it is for Dad, an early birthday gift and the other rope thing is for mum just because i love you! sorry i don't have more stuff to send home to everyone but i'm working on them!

so This week has been fantastic! we had so much work to do and on sat we had three baptisms and they were so amazing i loved them so much i'll send you the pictures.

So we were at a members house the other day and he told us he had something for us and he took out these two knifes that are so amazingly cool! i'll send a picture next week but they look like mini samurai swords and they are made by cold steel which i guess is a nice knife making thing.

so if i could ask a favor, could i get those pictures you emailed in print? i would really like to have a framed family picture that i could have on my desk, i would sure love that.

so today i might buy some canvas pants at walmart we do a lot of service up here and moving bales of hay in gym shorts leaves quite an impression if you know what i mean.

any whom i love you all so much you have no idea and your examples to me help me through everyday and at times i can almost hear mom telling me things ( mostly like wash your dishes make your bed brush your teethers haha jk) i wish you could all experiance the joy that i have been feeling and the satisfactioni of doing the Lords work. YOur all in my heart and your the bestest ever! oh oh Kyle i'm digging the beard! you done did make me proud!

Chino! 9/24/12

Oh my goodness i love it here! life is great and things are amazing!

on sat we had two bap interviews and yesterday Pres Taylor came and did the interview for our third one.

I'm so super excited for next weekend, we have 3 baptisms! greg at 10 debbie at noon and Janie at 2! Its going to be such an amazing day we're so excited for all the things that are going on here in Chino!

I find that With my companion i have to be overly excited and into stuff or he looses interest haha with him only having 5 weeks until he gets Transfered to the rest of his life he gets kinda trunky but i'm doing my best to make us sprint until the end of his mission and with the way things are going now its not going to be hard.

Last week Phoenix zone, with 26 Elders, Prescott valley district with 6 Elders And Elders Roberts and Pehrson were the only groups to reach standard of excellance! WOOT! we did it not only were we able to make it as a district but as a companionship we were the only one in the mission that week to reach it! woot! it made me quite happy.

the weather is changing here in chino with the coming of fall and i'm loving it so much it feels so great!

Oh my goodness i loved the pictures you sent to me dad those are so cool! we use those videos all the time in our teaching! and Kyle that's the kind of place your going to be working in how cool is that!

well i love you all so much and i thank you so much for all that you do for me each and every day, i Feel your prayers, and what a blessing it is to me for that.
Thank you I LOVE YOU ALL

Transfer call!

ok drum roll everybody...

Transfer news came!

and Both Elder Roberts and i are staying in Chino! YEAH!!!!!!

so i'm going to kill off Elder Roberts in six weeks! so that means i will be staying for at least two more transfers here in chino YEAH!!!!

this was sat before the corn dinner  we had two baptisms one for bj
the marrried one and the other for biance the 9 year old

i LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! up here and the work is going so well i can't explaine enough to you folks how much the work is moving and to top it off Elder Roberts and i were able to reach standerds of excellance for this week as a companionship which is amazing! only about 3 companionships are able to reach that each week and they are usually in south Phoenix so for us to get it in one of the slowest areas in the mission is amazing!

that is debbie ( who is getting baptised on the 29th) sis johnson and dale
these were all at the ward corn dinner which was so much fun!

dale being a goof

bro Farnsworth making faces at his son heh

bro Ely and i. i'm going to dress like him one day.
oh oh so the picture of me with bro Ely i'm wearing my new super amazing tie!
i love it so much as you can well tell

Also as a district this month with the baptisms we have planned on top of the ones that we've had Prescott valley district is going to surpass the ZONE record for baptisms in a month. so we might be able to set two records by the end of this month both the district and the zone.

ok wow that was a lot.

so Chino is doing amazing i love it so much up here and i'm so happy doing the Lords work and i've decided that i never want to go home.

So i've taken it on myself to make sure that the last six weeks of Elder Roberts mission are going to be FANTASTC and amazing and super super fun. and we are well on our way to making that happen haha.

ok i was wondering that if at all possible in the next package if you could send my over coat that i got for Christmas because i know that i'll be able to stay here until mid november and it does get chilly up here in chino in fact its been getting into the 40s in the night which is super amazing and i love it.

so much to my pleasure at church guess what most people wear? oh yeah they wear cowboy boot and big belt buckels haha i wish i could but its not in cannon with our rules but ah well such is life.

OH! so Janie who is 14 and she is a cheerleader a horse rider a rodeo roper and show rider and they have a pool in their pack yard (yeah you would love her Melinda) she decided that she wants to get baptised! so on the 29th we'll have three baptisms that we've confirmed for gregory (11) Janie (14) and debbie (60s) it is going to be a fantastic day for us,

Oh i have some neat things i need to send to you guys and i was wondering should i send a box through usps or fedex or ups? Any who, i love you all your all so amazing

Pools of Living Water

oh my goodness HELLO!

i just want all of you to know how much of a fantastic week we've had. its been amazing! I love serving the Lord!
Right now the ward is trusting us enough to allow us to teach their friends and family, Chino was a dead place they sent Elders to die but this week The pools of living water have sprung up and the Lord has blessed us with the stewerdship of teaching His fantastic Children.

this is a metal cut out a member gave me its amazing

josh at his baptism and his family!
oh my goodness do you not love them as much as i do?

Josh had his baptism on sat which was such an amazing time and everyone was so happy, i loved it.

Bianca (9) and Bj (20's) are entering the waters of baptism next week and Gregory is joining them on the 29th. Right now we Have 11 others who we are teaching without dates and 6 more who we've talked too and have an appointment to start teaching but haven't met them yet.

I have no idea but the Lord is blessing us with so much work that half of this week we'll be on splits with the youth which i LOVE! this morning we went and hiked up to these amazing Indian ruins which i loved!
on sat we had a dedication of a stake center which i had never been to one before and it was super neat i enjoyed it a lot. The cool thing was that all the people that spoke could remember the time when they used to have to meet in the attic of some store and now they have two stakes and a new stake center.

Elder Roberts and I are doing very well together and it works quite well because with him i have been getting to be able to learn how to apply the leadership skills that i learned from E Campbell, we had a zone meeting which was amazing best meeting of my mission but i don't have time to email it but i'll send it to Alex and she can read it to you

.

So i got a letter from Zena And AARon which i loved and sister Marsh is so funny haha just so you all know it was her idea [to call] but she is the most amazing Saint i've ever known and living with her just makes everyone happy. so Z-A thank you for your postcard it meant a lot to me :)

OH and Mum i got my packege THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU and that to everyone it means so much to me honest it does although ironicly the first cookie i opened tolde me i would soon have a romantic meeting so i said dang right! peppermint and honey tea I'm so ready for you! HAHA

Family friends i love you so much you have no idea

Mystery call

Hi there. It's Z, Andrew's sister.

I just got the most wonderful phone call.

I'm sitting at work, and my phone starts buzzing. It was an Arizona number, and I thought I recognized it as one of my "trouble" contacts I'd needed to call from home a couple of weeks ago to resolve an issue. Reluctantly I answered, but it was not the young male voice I was expecting. Instead, it was a kind and rather matronly voice.

She introduced herself as Sister Marsh, and told me my brother was serving in her area!

If you'll recall from the last post, Sister Marsh is the name of the wonderful lady hosting the missionaries - Andrew's living in her home!

I'd gone down to Arizona with the hubby last weekend, and although we were sorely tempted to do a little Elder stalking, we resisted the temptation (because we're both returned missionaries and know exactly how against the rules that is and how distracting it can be for the missionary).

BUT ... I couldn't resist sending him a postcard to let him know we were all of 198 miles away...

He got my postcard today! And, not reading closely enough to realize we'd already left that dry and hot place, got Sister Marsh to call me to try and arrange a meeting (apparently his mission rules aren't as strict as mine...)

Needless to say, the meeting won't happen.

But I did have a lovely conversation with Sister Marsh, and she reports that Andrew is young, enthusiastic, working hard, and having a great time.

She said he made chicken for dinner last night while she made the salad, and once the meal was over, he said, "Now I want to cook something for real!"

How like Andrew.

She also said that she's learning all sorts of random scientific-y trivia from Andrew. Like some stuff about the stars he pointed out, then a diatribe about propane systems, and then... well, you all know Andrew, so the list of random comes as no surprise.

Sounds like he hasn't changed. Well, except that she reports him to be an efficient and responsible missionary. "Efficient" and "Responsible" are traits he must have learned down in the heat. :)

Most of all, Sister Marsh said how grateful she is to have the missionaries in her home. Her husband died last year, and she's been horribly lonely. So it seems that even while he's home sleeping or doing his laundry, Andrew is still actively serving just by providing this lovely lady with company and purpose.

Way to be.

I'm tempted to save her phone number, should I ever need to use it... tempted, but I'm pretty sure that's another iffy space in the rule book.

Chino

firstly mum yes i do need my driving record still Elder Roberts is going home next month so he wont always be driving so Sister Taylor said that i really need to have my record because they might need me to be DD some time and i can drive on exchanges and such because i talked to the office but without those records i can't drive all the time.

ok so these are pictures of the view from our house which is amazing! i love living with sister Marsh

and this is the Elder Roberts deep in his studies, as you can see his body fat is probably in the negitive haha hopefully he can help me loose some weight haha although he doesn't have to try in fact he is doing his best right now to put on some weight and he can't HA oh what a problem to have.

so things are going super well up here in Chino we have six dates set right now one for this Sat and we have two interviews on sat and we get to go to the new stake center open house and then on Sunday the dedication (rumor has it that one of the twelve is going to be there) and they invited all the missionaries in the zone to be a part of it and then the next sat we have another bap interview so we are super busy busy busy.

its so cool to see that in our district each companionship got a new person at the beginning of this transfer and at our last district we went through numbers and our district is now getting 4 time the numbers it was before and our companionship is getting 3 time the numbers!

the Lord is really blessing us so much in helping the work move up here and let me tell you it is moving so fast we can barely keep up to it haha well i love you all so much you all mean so much to me keep up all that you do

Love Elder Pehrson
ps when i get my package i'll let you know. promise
pps Xena do you love me enough to give me your pumpkin soup recipe, sister marsh has a couple early ones and she doesn't know what to do with them. LOVE YOU AND thank you!!!

4th of July

This week was super fun lots of "finding" which translates to "looking' because we didn't actually find but we are still diligently doing our part to searve our master.

the 4th was really fun in the morning the ward invited us to their breakfast and bike parade and then they had us lead it! it was super fun AND it was cloudy and 86 degrees which i know is super hot still but it felt WONDERFUL!

we had appointments the rest of the day WOOT and then we had to be in by six and sadly we couldn't see any boom booms but we did (by insperation from yours truly) turn our whole house into a putt putt course which was actualy super fun and we did that all evening hehe.

so last week our washer exploded! and by that i mean it cumbusted vilently and by that i mean the motor just burned out... but it was still crazy! so we have to take our two week worth of sweat rags to a members to use their facilities...

ok so in my dreams which have all turned to mission related topics (go figure) everyone refers to me as Elder Pehrson not that other name haha its like a change of identity but a good one and then i was thinking that this is actually the real world and what all of you people are living in is actually the Matrix! which in a way is kinda true but its funny because i'll be talking to the ward council and they will all be talkking gospel stuff and i keep thinking well what else is there to talk about this is how the world should be haha well any way i love you all so much you mean the world to me!

Once upon a time...

there was an Elder named Soup (Campbell) who rode his bike everywhere with his companion Elder Pehr (son of).

Elder Soup loved running over things with his bike, so much so that he would swerve out of his way -- even to the opposite side of the street -- to run over a cup.

One day as this intrepid duo was galavanting about in the Barren Desert, Elder Soup saw a whole milk jug lying in the street.

To his joy and enjoyment he promptly went and ran over the jug.

To his surprise, but adding to his delight, the jug was full to the brim with water.

The first impact of his front tire to the jug did nothing but knock the plastic cap off. But when his back tire hit the jug, the jug was crushed and its contents sent asunder in a forceful manner.

Little to Elder Soup's knowledge, but Elder Pehrson was riding beside and a little behind him...

With the explosive discharge of the contents of the jug, Elder Pehrson was forcibly covered head-to-toe with the contents of said jug.

Both Elders rode away feeling rather good--one amused, the other cooled down.

The end.

Dreams

Ok do you relise that i've been out for... well i'm in my fourth month now! crazy! it feels like i've been here for a week! but i want you folk to know that i'm loving being a missionary it is the best ever!

i don't know how anyone would ever not want to be on a mission! and i mean that every time i think about "home" all i see is me still out doing missionary work and it's crazy!

i'm to the point where i'm dreaming about teaching people!

i had one dream i'll tell you about:

so there i was in the middle of the barren desert and for some reason i was sitting on this pool thing (imagine a broken sprikler pipe how it bubbles up well i was sitting on that)

all around me is completly empty but for a huge sahouro cacti right in fron of me and i was teaching it about the BofM

for some reason i was getting so frustratated that it would not make the commitment to read the book and i kept telling it that it wasn't going to rain and i was sitting on the only water its ever going to get but the only way it could drink was for it to read but still it wouldn't

and then finally a lizerd comes by and starts reading it to the cacti and then i was so happy

then i used my frisbee(i'm not lying) to pour water over both of them...

yeah so haha welcome to the brain of Elder Pehrson... its an interesting place...

any who you guys should tune into the weather channel for down here because its going to be hot hot hot!

oh i was going to tell you this week we went tracting one day for like three hours straight and the coolest thing happened as we were walking our shoes bacame super sticky and guess what! they were starting to melt!

CRAZY

Well i love you all so so so so so much keep me posted

Love you

Elder Pehrson

Awesome contact story (a bit overdue)

Ok, so we were biking around on a Sunday evening and it's a cool 105 degrees outside and we are on our 18th mile that day and we have no idea where to go so we stop and pray and after the prayer I took the lead and we just started biking.

At every street I heard a voice telling me 'Right' or 'Left' or 'Straight.'

Until at last we got to this run-down little street and I heard 'Stop.'

In front of us was this tiny little house and we went up and knocked on the door and this lady answered. We find out she'd just had a stroke 6 months ago and broke her foot and lost her old house and she'd just that moment gotten off the phone with her Baptist church leader who was telling her that he can't give her rides to church and she shouldn't ask people for that and she's a lost cause and should just give up.

So she opened the Bible to James 1:5 and prayed that the Lord would tell her why things are--and at that moment we rang her doorbell.

We felt as soon as we saw her that this poor woman needed a blessing so we introduced ourselves and offered her a priesthood blessing. She broke down crying and exclaimed "Yes! Yes! Oh God, yes!"

Elder Campbell gave her a blessing, after which she told us her story about how alone she is and how her mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and her stepmom had also just had a stroke that was worse than her own.

Everything in this woman's 46 years of life has been preparing her for the message we had for her that day. We're going back this week to teach her more. The Lord has been spending years preparing people for the message we bring to them. I know that I could be in no other place than this. My mission has done more good for me than any other month and a half of my life.

I know my Savior lives. I know God loves us. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only complete and full doctrine on the face of this Earth. Jesus Christ is the Light of this world, and through Him all things are brought to pass. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and I would go through all the fires and trials of this world to prove to all that I have a God who is the only and true God.

These things I testify in the name of Jesus Christ.

Emails and Pictures

oh my goodness i love you all!

well i just want to say that i'm finaly getting this missionary thing! i find my self just opening my mouth and talking to people and answering questions and going up to people where just 3 short months ago i would have never done!

This Sat june 2 i am actually going to the sealing of the Rantz family in Mesa and oh my goodness i'm so excited for that. this family is great Bro Rantz is one of our ward missionaries and his one year mark was last week but he is the best!

so i don't want to spend all my time writting because i have a few pictures to send to you! but i love you all so so so so so much and you mean the world to me! -Elder Pehrson
